Inspiration

Most subscription trackers hand you a list. Duefolio gives you a timeline: every recurring charge laid across months, so what is ending, what is renewing, and what it all adds up to is one glance instead of one spreadsheet. It is a native iOS app with an on-device analyst that reads your ledger without the ledger ever leaving the phone, and it costs one payment, once, because charging a monthly fee to track monthly fees felt absurd.

Recurring charges are easy to start and almost impossible to see as a whole. They live across receipts, bank statements, app settings, and memory. The only time they resolve into a single picture is after the money has gone.

What it does

Duefolio puts subscriptions on one timeline. Every subscription is a bar across a scrubbable run of months: what is active, what is ending, and what renews next. Instead of reading twelve cards, you see the shape of a year.

MacStories Weekly highlighted Duefolio's timeline-ledger design.

That timeline is our case for the RevenueCat Design Award: dotted past cycles and solid active spans show the year at a glance, while scrubbing reveals exact dates.

  • Find what repeats. Import a bank statement and Duefolio surfaces charges that recur, with the same merchant, a stable amount, and a regular cadence. The evidence is shown. Swipe to track or ignore. Nothing is saved until you say so.
  • See the full cost. Inspect monthly and annual totals, paid-to-date and what is ahead, a draggable spend trajectory, category composition, and recurring spend relative to income.
  • Ask your ledger. Folio is an on-device analyst. Ask what is renewing this week or what share of income subscriptions take, and it answers from your data on the phone, with no ledger leaving the device. It is an analysis aid, not financial advice.
  • Know what you do not know. When prices are missing, Duefolio says so next to the number instead of quietly rounding over gaps.

Everyday clarity stays free: tracking, the timeline, renewal alerts, core Financials, and CSV/JSON export. Pro is one $14.99 lifetime purchase. Pro includes custom subscriptions, bank-statement import, income and P&L, category composition, the Home Screen widget, and alternate icons. There is no monthly plan. Tracking your subscriptions should not become one of them.

How we built it

Duefolio is native SwiftUI for iOS 26, with on-device persistence and system frameworks for notifications, widgets, haptics, and file import/export. Folio runs a local model with deterministic ledger tools and confirmation-gated writes. RevenueCat Purchases handles the lifetime product, entitlement, and restore. Focused tests cover money math, date anchoring, imports, notifications, Pro gating, and the Folio lifecycle.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was keeping one truthful model across dates, prices, reminders, charts, imports, widgets, and the paywall. A renewal date that looks right on one screen and drifts at month-end is not a cosmetic bug in a financial app. We used normalized dates, decimal money math, explicit entitlement gates, and portable formats so every surface tells the same story.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We launched Duefolio on the App Store during Shipaton. MacStories Weekly highlighted its timeline-ledger design, and Lifehacker.ru included it in an iOS app roundup. Public feedback moved Dark Mode up the roadmap; we shipped it in version 1.0.3 ahead of our October 1 target. The core app remains useful before anyone pays: tracking, renewal alerts, Financials, and export are free.

What we learned

Restraint is a technical feature. A genuinely generous free tier forced us to define what Pro is actually worth instead of hiding the product behind a paywall. We also learned that shipping is not just building: the store product, entitlement, purchase, restore, and post-relaunch state all have to agree before a green build means anything.

What is next for Duefolio

We will turn launch feedback into a clearer first-run path, faster timeline scanning, safer statement review, and better local analysis, focusing on changes that remove uncertainty rather than add dashboards.
