Inspiration
We were inspired by the classic DuckHunt game, and wanted to bring some of that nostaglia to the new generation. We have all seen worlds overrun by zombies and calamaty, but have you ever seen a world controlled by robot ducks?
What it does
Duckpocalypse is a survival shooter roguelike, with elements of simulation through unlocking and upgrading new weapons and upgrades for your base.
How we built it
Duckpocalypse was originally designed for VR use, but we decided that it could flourish in Horizon especially on mobile. With its quick rounds and simple gameplay, it makes sense for a mobile game.
Challenges we ran into
With Horizon Worlds being a new platform, especially to use as this is our first game on the platform, we ran into the normal challenges with adjusting and learning something new.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are simply proud to deliver something that works and is fun. We see the potential Meta Horizon has, and can't wait to keep pushing the boundries of the platform.
What we learned
So many things. The coding structure of Horizon Worlds, how to use and work with props and assets, how to work through limitations such as no custom 3D animations or custom audio.
What's next for Duckpocalypse
We want to expand on the base upgrading, allow users to gain a passive income based on how many ducks they are brought to justice. We also want to implement new areas, new weapons and some seasonal events.
