Inspiration
The inspiration for Duckling Days came from the desire to make mental health journaling more approachable and light-hearted. We wanted to create a safe space for users to engage with their emotions in a fun and supportive way.
What it does
Duckling Days allows users to track their emotions through visuals such as calendars and line charts. This enables individuals to monitor their mood over time, gaining greater self-awareness of their emotional patterns. Through our daily prompts, we hope to inspire users to reflect on their feelings and foster a connection with themselves.
How I built it
We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create a user-friendly interface that is not only visually appealing but also easy to navigate. We used Python for data visualization and dynamic charts.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into challenges when creating the interface calendar, particularly in ensuring that it was intuitive and easy for users to input and track their moods. We also ran into challenges for the delete note functions, where we cannot redirect to the desired page after deleting the notes.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud that we were able to create interactive features that allow users to track their moods on specific days.
What I learned
We discovered how critical user feedback was in refining both our prompts and our illustrations, emphasizing the need for an iterative, user-centered approach to design.
What's next for Duckling Days
Next, we plan to expand Duckling Days to digital platforms and create different themes focused on specific areas of mental health such as stress relief or gratitude. In addition, we hope to use MongoDB to create a more advanced login and sign-up page to track users' daily logins.
