Duck City Games
Inspiration
Duck City Games was inspired by the idea of creating a simple yet engaging game that leverages the community-driven environment of Reddit. We wanted to design a fun memory game with minimal complexity, focusing on gameplay rather than technical intricacies.
What it does
Duck City Games is a memory game built on Reddit using Devvit. Players are shown a series of disappearing images, and they must recall how many objects were displayed, what they were, and select them in the correct order. The game offers varying levels of difficulty to challenge users of all skill levels.
How we built it
We built Duck City Games entirely using Devvit, a tool for building simple games on Reddit. By focusing on Reddit's API and Devvit's streamlined approach, we were able to create a lightweight yet engaging game experience without adding complex features or external integrations.
Challenges we ran into
- Platform Constraints: Working within the limitations of Reddit's and Devit's framework required creative solutions for game mechanics.
- User Interaction: Ensuring the game remained intuitive and engaging within Reddit's interface was a significant challenge.
- Memory Mechanics: Designing a fair yet challenging memory system that works seamlessly with varying difficulty levels was tricky.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully launching a fully functional memory game directly on Reddit.
- Keeping the game simple and accessible while maintaining a high level of engagement.
- Receiving positive feedback from Reddit users who enjoyed the game and its challenging nature.
