Inspiration

Duck Duck Run was inspired by the ducks we kindly got gifted from BlackRock. We utilised the theme of education in the area of mental health, hoping that others would be more educated in this topic and start to take care of how they are feeling psychologically and emotionally.

What it does

Duck Duck Run is a single player shooter game that explores the idea of self hatred and allows for the player to overcome such feelings and grow as a duck.

How we built it

Duck Duck Run was built on python's pygame library.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Dealing with scalability of the sprites
  2. How the map interacts with the players
  3. Collision control
  4. Enemies not spawning properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our main accomplishment that we're proud of is being able to learn how to use a whole new python library in under 12 hours and exploring the field of game development which none of us have delved into before.

What we learned

We learned more about collaborative coding and how to work as a team on different parts of the project group. Half of our members have also never used github before and being able to use git commands will definitely help in the future.

What's next for Duck Duck Run

More levels, newer maps, more variety of enemies, a counter on the amount of enemies killed, a health bar and healing items.
