What it does
A game meant to build amicable bonds between two players. Chase down your friend and figure out their next to move to better defeat them. Game has 3 core mechanics:
- Ducking: Showcase your intuition and reaction time! Ducking turns an enemy's attack into power.
- Power Attacks: Destroy those in front of you! Power attacks consume power once the power bar is maxed out and gets pass enemy ducking
- Quack: Quack to build up power outside of ducking
How we built it
Godot: The game engine the game was built in, used nodes extensively and handled all the inner workings of the game Aseprite: The pixel art tool used to create all the sprites and tiles, including animations
Challenges we ran into
I'm an almost complete beginner to Godot, only picking it up this week, so a lot of my challenges came from not fully understanding the engine and referencing documentation to get through a lot of the mechanics
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first functional game I've created, I'm very proud with how it turned out, especially the sprites as I thought I wouldn't have had enough time to actually create them
What we learned
I learned a ton about Godot and Aseprite and how to work efficiently in each program respectively.
What's next for Duck And Rolled
Additions of various moves and expanding the map alongside with how many players could help the game become much more expansive.
