Dubs Career Sidekick

What it does

Dubs is a UW focused career coach that helps you track your job search, check your fit for roles, and close skill gaps with real UW classes and resources. You save a job, hit Analyze, and Dubs shows your match score, missing skills, and clear next steps.

How we built it

We used React with Tailwind and shadcn for the interface, Lucide for icons, and a Claude workflow to handle job analysis.

Challenges we ran into

Finding a clean way to compare skills across resumes and job posts was harder than expected. Keeping the UI simple while still showing useful detail also took a few iterations.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We created a tool that feels personal to UW students. The Fit Score works smoothly, the job board feels easy to use, and the gap closing recommendations feel practical rather than generic.

What we learned

We learned how valuable clear feedback is during a stressful job search. We also learned how to build a clean workflow between the frontend and an AI model without overwhelming the user.

What is next for Dubs Career

We want to add support for multiple resumes, real time job search filters, and a smarter skill graph that updates as you take new UW classes.
