Inspiration
1) YouTube is not censorship resistant. Crypto channels are constantly suspended without providing a reason and there is no official process on how to get the channel back online. 2) YouTube is a centralized platform and it discriminates people by their geographical location, for example, monetization is different per country and at any moment YouTube can suspend payments to content creators.
What it does
It gives equal chance for contract creators monetize on their intellectual property. Without discriminating them geographical location or nationality.
How we built it
Our goal was to build:
1. On chain - Content creator uploads edited video or starts live stream by minting an NFT that symbolizes video ownership.
2. Subgraph would be used to create playlists.
3. Livepeer provides on transcoding
4. Videos would be stored on IPFS
Challenges we ran into
Goals were way too big for a small team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
We learned how Livepeer works and no one yet has achieved to deliver web3 native video sharing, social platform.
What's next for DTube
We have to implement a lot of technical parts.
