Inspiration

Our team was uniquely inspired by our own spending habits e.g., a little coffee here, a sweet treat there. Upon learning that one of the challenges of this hackathon aimed to help youth manage their finances, we envisioned an app that would make it easy to create personal goals and save for them. Saving money doesn't need to be intimidating, it can be as simple as grabbing a quick coffee. We also noticed that a rushed lifestyle is common among our peers, including ourselves. To address this, the app would accommodate the limited attention spans of our target audience by incentivizing users with witty, motivational reminders and rewarding them with achievement badges for regularly investing in their savings.

What it does

Before diving into achieving the savings goals of your dreams, you'll first need to set up an account. The app will ask for some basic personal details, such as your name and your typical spending habits (this will come in handy later). Congratulations! You now have your very own DTF profile.
Start by creating your first goal-whether it's saving for a new video game or a car, the choice is yours. Next, set a deadline, and you'll be introduced to our specially designed feature to make saving easier: TipTaps. Select from a variety of everyday expenses, like a coffee or a clothing item- things you wouldn't usually think twice about buying- then assign a monetary value to them. Just like that, your first goal is set!
From there, it’s simple. With our helpful reminders- widgets and push notifications- you’ll be able to tip money towards your goals or even create new ones. Earn achievement badges as you progress and put in effort. Tracking your progress is a breeze, thanks to our intuitive visual graphs. But that’s not all!
Have you found yourself, perhaps, becoming more curious about personal finance after using our app? We wouldn’t be surprised, in fact, we anticipated it. A dedicated educational tab in the taskbar provides access to short, easy-to-read articles covering basic budgeting knowledge and trending fintech topics. And there’s more: your very own AI assistant will help you set realistic, attainable savings goals while offering motivational messages and personalized budgeting tips tailored to your unique spending habits.

How we built it

With the help of a collaborative web application for interface design- Figma, we designed a user interface and experience.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out how to stand out among our competitors, creating the demonstration of the app without a technical person, figuring out the logistics of working with Payment Service Direction 2 and developer portals of banks who provide such services.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating an idea on the spot and refining it with the assistance of mentors. Finishing a refined user interface and setting concise goals for the future of the app.

What we learned

We learned to design a UI/UX while keeping in mind user needs to design user-centric solutions, such as incorporating intuitive features into the the app. Gained insight into the the savings app market.

What's next for DTF

     1. Marketing and Outreach

Starting an online presence to generate interest. Approaching banks, fintech platforms, or educational institutions for potential partnerships or funding. Partnering with developers who have experience in app development. 2. Legal Considerations: Investigating the regulatory requirements for working with financial institutions and consulting with a legal expert to understand licensing, user data security, and banking integration requirements. 3. Build a Prototype Starting the plan for back-end architecture. Beginning to develop a roadmap for the AI assistant functionality. 4. Testing the app 5. Developing an MVP
