Why is this important
Extreme weather has become more and more common in Singapore. Flashfloods are a very real threat that we face with several flash flood events in 2025 causing property damage and social distress. We aim to provide a 15-30 minute lead for teams to respond to potential floods to reduce the potential damage of these extreme weather events.
What it does
Models rainfall intensity and canal telemetry to forecast rising flood probabilities before breaching occurs. Natural-language spatial querying for non-technical agency officers to query high-risk zones instantly. Each zone’s flood risk is predicted from the ring of gauges around it, not one reading Extracting data points from the following:
- PUB telemetry API
- NEA Weather Station API
- SLA and LTA GIS Layers
Using historical data to train and test the model with simulated live data to showcase the model in action.
