Doctors must always find the best treatment for their patients. However, they cannot reasonably remember the thousands of drugs, surgeries, and treatments available, nor can they effectively keep track of emerging options. How can doctors balance convenience and access to information?

What it does

Drugbase eliminates this trade-off. By comparing treatment options in a visual dashboard, Drugbase provides doctors with information in seconds, saving doctors time and saving patients money, all while providing quality medical care. The dashboard compares metrics such as price, clinical trial efficacy, patient feedback, as well as recent news updates, culminating in an overall score. Drugbase can revolutionize Army medical care as well as the entire United States health care industry.

How we built it

We used the Meteor JS framework and D3.js visualization tool to create a web-based dashboard that compares different treatment options.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We proved the cost-saving potential of the Drugbase concept and placed second at SASE Hack 2017!

What we learned

Because there are so many treatment options available for wide ranging diseases, maintaining dynamic, robust database for Drugbase would be incredibly challenging.

What's next for Drugbase

The database of drugs and treatment options must be expanded. Moreover, additional metrics such as side effects and availability should be visually compared.
