What's next for Dr. Paws: Voice Vet First-Aid for Alexa+
Inspiration
When a pet eats something it shouldn't, or suddenly can't breathe, owners panic. Searching on a phone wastes minutes that matter. Many dangers aren't obvious: a single lily leaf can cause kidney failure in a cat, and a swollen belly in a dog can be fatal bloat. But the smart speaker is already in the room. I'd built Dr. Paws as a real-time voice vet agent, and Alexa+ is where it belongs.
What it does
Dr. Paws is a self-hosted MCP server (Streamable HTTP, spec 2025-11-25) that gives Alexa+ four tools:
triage_pet_emergency: returns EMERGENCY / VISIT_SOON / HOME_CARE, red flags, calm first-aid steps, and a spoken reply check_food_toxicity: chocolate, grapes, xylitol, onion, lilies, paracetamol and more, per species, with what to do next check_appointment_slots and book_vet_appointment: books a real clinic slot through n8n + Supabase
Example: "Alexa, my cat chewed a lily" → "Lily is dangerous for a cat… go to an emergency vet immediately, treatment within 18 hours is critical."
