Inspiration

Imagine driving a car on a highway suddenly you notice that a truck lost its balance and smashed another car. Why this happened? The truck driver did that intentionally? No that’s because of drowsiness while driving. In US every year approximately 100,000 crashes occur due to drowsiness or sleep driving, each year in India 1.5 lakh people die in road mishaps due to sleep driving. So is there any solution for that. Yes, we team ninja turtles brings you an application(DROVE) a complete solution for this issue.

What it does

Drove is a safety application focusing on reduction of road miseries happening because of drowsiness. By monitoring your facial expressions with the help of a ML model and alerting you with a sound whenever you feel sleepy or drowsy this application brings you a complete solution for drowsiness.

How we built it

Application - > Flutter, Authentication & Backend- > Google Firebase, ML model -> GCP and TFLite.

Challenges we ran into

It was quite challenging to embed the ML model in the application. And conversion of ML model in TFLite was a bit difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Apart from all these barriers we have gone through, at last we have successfully completed and integrated our application in the given time.

What we learned

We learned how to manage time, how a team works, how we distribute our work and pressure, and most importantly a lot of technical stuffs.

What's next for Drove

Enhanced and more accurate ML model, accident detection through gyroscope & accelerometer, emergency call transferring to the nearest hospital, seat belt detection, monitoring vehicle camera to alert the driver about fast approaching vehicles, indicating nearby petrol pumps, speed detection, displaying warnings to slow down the speed in busy or residential areas.
