Inspiration

Our team recognized a growing gap in the educational landscape and recognized that there is a massive data loss to companies such as OpenAI and Google on Student Data, as students increasingly turned to online platforms like ChatGPT or Google to satiate their curiosities, educators lost touch with their students' burning questions. This realization became the driving force behind DropRead.

What it does

DropRead is an innovative analytical tool and AI tutor that enables educators to understand and cater to their students' questions. Instead of merely supplying answers, DropRead offers insights that help educators understand the why behind every question alongside providing more info to improve the course that is being taught.

How we built it

Our team, with very diverse expertise ranging from robotics to economics, combined their knowledge to craft DropRead. The process began with thorough market research, followed by product development where we stored our data in MongoDB and all the embeddings are in pinecone, we used flask for API's Generative LLM to generate responses and a different LLM for embeddings. Through consistent feedback from the Judges and refinements, DropRead was brought to life.

Challenges we ran into

Like any venture, we faced our fair share of challenges: In developing DropRead, we grappled with optimizing our front-end interface for intuitiveness and performance, while avoiding the trap of feature creep. It was essential to find the right balance between delivering value without overwhelming our users. We diligently sought feedback to tailor the product to educators' exact needs. Moreover, determining the ideal pricing model and understanding our market segment posed significant business challenges, leading us to closely analyze market trends.
