Inspiration
We like Quacker the duck. We thought of babies (for some reason), and this came about. Subconsciously inspired by Orbt XL.
What it does
It is a game where you play as a duck flying around the earth. You catch babies falling from outer space, and deliver them to their home countries.
How we built it
We built it together on Godot 4. Art was done on ibisPaint.
Challenges we ran into
We had a team "conflict", between dropping duckling babies and human babies. Resolved it peacefully :D. A lot of number tuning and balancing went into it, where there is no objectively right directions, and its based on our game feels to guide us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It is "complete", as opposed to looking like a prototype. Playtesters were engaged, wanting to beat their high score.
What we learned
Simple controls can go along way. Play test a lot! For mastery gained during development blinds you to the true experience of the game.
What's next for Drop the baby
Quite complete we think. We may introduce more baby varieties
- sick baby, who needs to be dropped in time
- chubby baby, who slows you down
- who know
Built With
- godot
