Inspiration The idea came from a reel showing a real-life reflex test where sticks are dropped and caught mid-fall. What stood out was how quickly it tests focus, reaction time, and competitiveness. I wanted to recreate that instant challenge as a simple yet engaging AR game.
What it does Drop Stick Game is an AR reflex game where sticks fall one by one, and the user has to catch them before they drop. It tests reaction speed, concentration, and timing in a fast, arcade-style loop.
How we built it All visual assets and UI elements were designed in Photoshop. The game logic and interactions were built in Lens Studio using timed events, tap detection, and game state management to control the flow of gameplay.
Challenges we ran into The hardest part was balancing the fall speed to keep the game challenging but fair. Making sure interactions felt responsive across devices was also a key challenge.
Accomplishments that we are proud of We successfully turned a real-world reflex test into a smooth and intuitive AR game that feels fun within seconds of play.
What we learned Simple mechanics can be powerful when paired with good pacing and clear feedback. We also learned how to optimise AR interactions for fast-paced gameplay.
What’s next for Drop Stick Game Next steps include score tracking, difficulty levels, and leaderboards to make the game more competitive and replayable.
