Inspiration

The global pandemic has impacted so many of the vulnerable people of the world and left them helpless as prices of everyday necessities have spiked significantly. Covid-19 has changed the way we live and how much we can afford to spend. To solve this issue I decided to build a platform where prices on products are reduced significantly so people in need can afford them.

What I learned

Through this amazing hackathon, I learned so many new features of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I learned to reuse CSS styling and assign them variables. In Javascript, I learned to create a bit more advanced functions. Overall, in these 36 hours I learned so many new things but to sum it up I would say I learned to further enhance the User Interface.

How I built my project

Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript I was able to build an e-commerce website.

Challenges I faced

At first, I planned on making this website a mobile app but since I never had experience in it, I ran into multiple problems so I shifted my focus to a website that I was more familiar with. Javascript wasn’t my strong suit so I had to spend many hours trying to learn more than what I knew coming into the hackathon.

Future of Drop-Shop

I plan on further expanding the project by using a database to get real-time prices on products and change them effectively through the database. I also plan on selling products in more categories such as Covid-19 essentials but it's not only limited to this. And finally, I hope to one day make this a completely free website where those most in need can receive products without any actual payments. To achieve this I hope to make it a non-profit organization and receive government funding to purchase these old and used products from my clients.
