Inspiration
We were curious about how people actually know how much they spend on petrol for each trip.
What it does
It calculates the total cost of fuel you’ll use for any journey, based on your car’s efficiency and live fuel prices.
How we built it
FuelIQ helps drivers instantly estimate how much a trip will cost using real-time fuel prices and each vehicle’s actual MPG data. It combines live API data with vehicle efficiency stats to help users make smarter, more economical travel decisions.
Challenges we ran into
We couldn’t find a reliable live API for UK fuel prices, so we switched to U.S. data instead.

We’re proud of completing the project and using simple algebra to create something both useful and impressive.
What we learned
We learned how to use APIs effectively and integrate live data into an interactive application.
What's next for Drivewise
Next, we plan to expand to UK fuel data sources, add currency conversion, and eventually turn Drivewise into a mobile app for real-time trip cost tracking.
