An idea for a simple ride sharing system that rewards drivers for picking up people they know near bus stops.

The foundational idea is that every day people with empty seats drive past people at the bus stop who are going where they are going. But drivers don’t know and they don’t care enough about interrupting their own journey to help someone out. This app solves the information problem with a platform for sharing information (someone you know is at a bus stop en route), and the motivation problem with free parking (a gift from the transport system for helping it out).

• Drivers and passengers register online with a link to Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn and make connections for future travel
• Drivers pick up passengers near a bus stop, drop them off en route, and get some free parking as a reward (plus cost sharing from passengers)
• Part of a broader mission to encourage people to be someone's passenger (and gradually reduce car driving)
