Inspiration
Both our dads are hard of hearing so we were motivated to create an application to help them out when they are on drives alone.
What it does
Alerts the driver if a siren noise is heard nearby or if there is another driver honking.
How we built it
We used Python and a select number of libraries and API's. We used the APIs from the SpeechRecognition, numpy, and librosa libraries for audio processing and recognition.
What we learned
How to utilize different API's and how to work with sound data.
What's next for Drive Support
Hopefully move to mobile app and add directional input (display where the siren is coming from)
