Inspiration

With new fashion trends coming out weekly, it has become increasingly difficult to know if your outfit is stylish or if it needs a rework. With dripp, we want to help people find stylish outfits by providing a platform for them to post clothing pictures anonymously, and crowdsource feedback on how to take their fashion to the next level.

How we built it

The front end of our app is built with react-native. The backend is written in node.js, uses MongoDB to persist user/picture data, and is deployed using digitalocean.

Challenges we ran into

Setting up the database and working with react-native for the first time presented some growing pains, but we were able to overcome those challenges to deliver our product. Working and collaborating remotely also resulted in some challenges as we could not have the same level of communication as we would have had in person.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of our product. Despite the ambitious scope of our project, we were able to complete the major milestones we had planned while working with new technologies.

What we learned

We learnt a multitude of things from this project, from setting up a MongoDB database to working with react-native and its various libraries.

What's next for dripp

We would love to use NLP to summarize user reviews so that you can reach a consensus about what's good about your outfit and what could be changed. Object segmentation could also be used to allow reviewers to, for example, like the shoes in an outfit but dislike the sweater.
