Inspiration
We knew we wanted to create a product that dealt with healthcare and wellness. During brainstorming, we found that we wanted to emphasize the importance of women's health. Due to the privacy violations of period tracking apps, we wanted to create a safer way to calculate a person's next period.
What it does
A website that predicts a person's next period date as well as their end date. The website also promotes healthier and more eco-friendly options for period products.
How we built it
Using html, css and javascript we were able to create our website.
Challenges we ran into
We found ourselves thinking too ambitiously in the beginning and had to continuously simplify our product in order to match our capabilities. Some parts of the program we had to learn on the spot and there were various things we were not familiar with in html.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we built our website in languages that we were not too familiar with but learned a lot along the way. Being able to customize various aspects of our website was something that we were very excited about and enjoyed making something aesthetically pleasing.
What we learned
We learned a lot throughout this process. We were constantly finding ways to collaborate efficiently on the project whether it was through live share on vscode or through github. We also learned many things about web design and how to use html, javascript, and css. We also had grown a larger appreciation of how websites are created and the intricacies of designing a website. Not only did we have to think about the functionality of the website but also the aesthetics.
What's next for Drip-Period Predictor
We hope to be able to improve the website and add more functionalities. We had various ideas that were out of our skillset for now such as exporting the predicted dates into a Google, ios, and/or Android calendar. We also would have liked to implement a page where we had links to various period products with a live status of their availability.
