Inspiration

Modern microservice architectures and APIs often suffer from contract drift between backend schemas and client SDKs. DriftGuard Autopilot combines the power of Rust-based deterministic verification with GitLab Duo AI workflows to automate safe contract repairs.

What it does

DriftGuard Autopilot sets up an automated CI/CD and AI agent pipeline:

  1. Detects Contract Drift: Deterministic Rust test suite (cargo test --locked) catches breaking schema changes or undeclared environment keys.
  2. GitLab Duo Flow: Automatically invokes GitLab Duo Chat via custom .gitlab/duo/flows/driftguard-autopilot.yml configurations to diagnose root causes in MRs.
  3. Bounded Manifest Repair: Applies precise, human-reviewed patches to fix contract violations without manual boilerplate.
  4. Evidence Publication: Automatically builds and publishes verified JSON-schema compliance reports directly to GitLab Pages (https://sidsri14.gitlab.io/driftguard/).

How we built it

  • Rust: High-performance deterministic contract validation and test execution.
  • GitLab Duo & CI/CD: Native AI workflow automation and pipeline execution.
  • JSON Schema: Strict data contract definitions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • 31/31 Rust tests passing (cargo test --locked).
  • Fully automated GitLab Duo flow successfully resolving undeclared env/contract drift in Merge Request !1.
  • Fully public live evidence dashboard on GitLab Pages.

What we learned

Integrating AI assistant workflows (GitLab Duo) directly with deterministic compiled test harnesses (Rust) provides a bulletproof path for autonomous software maintenance with human oversight.
