Inspiration
Well, to be honest, my fiancée inspired me to create this game! I happen to love this type of game myself, and she has had a passion for fashion since forever. Coupled with the fact there are no worlds that really work like this in Meta Horizon Worlds to date, I decided to start the creation of it on 10/31/2024 with the hope that I could also try for a spot in this competition!
What it does
It's an automated fashion game world, complete with an economy around collecting coins and buying scripted props to use in-show, an xp and leveling system with 25 different ranks, an interactive UI for the audience to vote for performers, and multiple obstacle courses for people to gain additional coins!
How we built it
Well.. from scratch! I work a part-time job so nearly all of my free-time between then and now has been hackin' away at this world. The build and the scripting is all custom-made by me, with a lot of help in testing and honing in the details from my fiancée, her friends, and a couple of my friends.
Challenges we ran into
Oh boy, were there many. There was a game-breaking issue involving getListLength in codeblocks because mobile players leaving the world would remove their player ID from a playerList, but still be counted number-wise when getting the length of that list. This would lead to the game referencing one more player than existed in the list, causing a main game script error and full stop, leaving everyone stranded in the stage area! I had to rework the entire system due to that one. And down the road, there was a major issue in mobile players being able to vote, which I found and managed to solve today! And of course, many other little issues here, there, and in between concerning prop sizes, obstacle course difficulty, etc. There were a couple points that I was very disheartened by the problems I had faced.. Overall, it definitely DID NOT go as smooth as I had truly planned it to!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Figuring out the workaround for the codeblock issue, and learning more about the new mobile features recently available! Also, I'm very proud of the fact that this is my most prestigious project yet, made entirely by myself!
What we learned
More about meta's mobile platform and how to create worlds for it, including the poses, scripting, and ui! I also learned quite a bit about how to utilize codeblocks in a much more efficient and steadfast way!
What's next for Dressed 2 Flex!
More props, more obstacle courses, seasonal items, and VIP with specialty props and accessories! Regardless of the competition's outcome, I definitely plan to continue adding more to this world!
