Forecast Fashionista

Inspiration

The need to conserve time, especially in the morning when there is a need to be quick and efficient, is crucial! It is always stressful to select an appropriate outfit for the day and we will unfortunately end up spending on average 5-10 minutes deciding an outfit and half the time regret our decision. During this process, we come across numerous factors we have to consider such as the weather. To prevent all these miniature problems, we came up with a marvelous solution through this website that is easily accessible via phone and computer.

What it does

In a nutshell, we critique your outfit choices for the day by considering the weather in your area. You choose your fit by selecting two options from our diverse selection and we assess your selection by letting you know whether it is an appropriate fit for your day and even go an extra mile and suggest alternative outfit pairs if our original selection for you isn’t to your liking!

How we built it

We used Wix to make our website which includes our About Me’s and a general idea of our website. We also used java via Replit to create the actual core of our project. It’s able to let the user select options from a folder and give an assessment along with suggestions to up their fashion game!

Challenges we ran into

We ran into numerous problems while coding. It took quite some time to create the user interfaces and further understand the java swing. We weren’t able to adjust the dimensions of the images that the user should select from. During our Wix journey, in a number of situations, we wanted to give up, but we used outside sources such as the internet to figure out how to add a “Log In” page and creatively design and structure our website for good use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have a working website that gives free access to the code we created during this overnight journey! We are proud that we didn’t give up and continued working hard and overcoming the obstacles and challenges by working along other hackathon enthusiasts and Google of course!

What we learned

We learned about AI and teamwork through all the workshops and mini events! We were able to learn how to create user interfaces and further enhance our understanding regarding java. We learned essential life skills such as teamwork, understanding, perseverance, persistence, etc.

What's next for Forecast Fashionista

We will continue to add outfit options, expand our horizons, and save time for those who have trouble selecting an outfit! We will also work on improving this website and creating an easy-to-access app to find on our phones.
