Inspiration

More than 20 million students in the us do not go to college due to lack of money. Without a college degree, people are more susceptible to unemployment and low pay. Not only is college better for the individual, it helps your community as a whole - it helps its economy grow We wanted to create a solution for this problem and thus created DreamVestor.

What it does

DreamVestor is a not-for-profit application to help students obtain college loans through crowdsourcing of educational funds from investors. While the investors get a nominal return, the primary driver is to help the needy with education funds,

How we built it

We have an investor platform where investors can loan money to students. We also have a student platform where students can receive their loans and pay pending loans. Finally, DreamVestor has processes that run in the background to handle loaned money and powerful algorithms that distribute the money evenly and in the best possible way.

Who are we?

We are two 13-year-old middle schoolers from the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

Challenges we ran into

We had challenges in creating our powerful algorithms and in creating our secure payment gateway.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to say that our algorithms can evenly divide up the money to help the most amount of people. We are also proud of our student and investor platforms and the security of our platform as we use background checks and school institution checks to keep our app safe and secure

What we learned

We learned how to use payment gateways and create algorithms.

What's next for DreamVestor

We would like to improve DreamVestor by adding more styling and also scaling it to an actual product to help students. We would also like to add other security measures to really make it very hard to "cheat the system".
