Inspiration

I’ve always been deeply passionate about building guidance driven applications. In a world filled with information, I believe what people truly lack isn’t content, but actually direction.

I’ve been following Gabby since around 2022, even though I’m not her exact target audience. When I saw her brief, it immediately resonated with me. Her mission, helping women close the gap between inspiration and action, aligns strongly with how I think about growth and momentum.

Growing up in East Africa (Ethiopia), I’ve seen firsthand how women are often not encouraged to dream boldly. There’s a lot of pressure toward early marriage, stability, and “safe” choices rather than ambition. Building something that actively empowers women anywhere in the world to take courageous action felt deeply personal. DreamTick isn’t just a project, it’s a reflection of the kind of world I want to help create.

What it does

DreamTick turns bold goals into daily micro courage actions. Instead of overwhelming users with big ambitions, it breaks goals into achievable micro-steps, encourages reflection for self-awareness and mindfulness, assigns courage points based on difficulty, tracks streaks and momentum, and visualizes progress across mindset, lifestyle, and career.

How I built it

Frontend: Flutter (for ease of cross platform, and custom animations)

Backend: Supabase (database, auth, edge functions) AI Functionality: Gemini API

Challenges I ran into

I discovered the competition about one week in. With only a month total and joining late, the timeline was extremely tight.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Designing a complete AI-powered goal system in under a month, building unique custom animations, creating a courage-scoring system that rewards braveness, shipping a fully functional MVP under tight constraints.

What I learned

Tight constraints create clarity. How important momentum is. And that simplicity beats feature overload.

What's next for DreamTick

Smarter AI personalization based on user patterns, a more streamlined onboarding, and generally Iterating and making the app more aligned with users' needs
