Inspiration

Dreams are fleeting by nature — vivid, emotionally charged, and gone before you can hold onto them. The inspiration for this project came from a deeply personal moment: waking up in the middle of the night, caught in the tail end of a recurring dream that felt significant, only to watch its details dissolve in the minutes after. That experience of hazy visuals lost to an awake mind, is something universally relatable but nothing exists yet to meaningfully address it. This app is for the moments between sleeping and waking, where memory is soft and fragile. It's a quiet, frictionless space to capture what's fading before it disappears entirely — and over time, a tool to revisit, reflect on, and find patterns in the inner world you visit every night.

What it does

This dual-interface system (Dreamscape App + Cloud Light) allows users to record, analyze, interpret, and share their dreams, to promote emotional and mental wellbeing.

The Dreamscape App includes the following features: Home — most recent dream, interpretation summary, emotional quick-view. Dream Vault — full archive of recorded dreams, calendar view, collections, replay controls. Dream Reader — AI interpretation, emotional state summary ("You are: Overwhelmed"), personal annotation. Dreamery — social space to share dreamscapes with friends or publicly, browse by topic, respond with your own dream.

The Cloud Light performs the following functions: Placed on your nightstand; connect via companion app. Record neural-adjacent dream signals while you sleep. Glows a color corresponding to the emotional tone of your dream (warm = joy, cool = anxiety, etc.). Touch to activate the playback session.

How we built it

-Brainstorm and Research Brainstormed initial concept ideas and decided on a topic. Performed a literature review and social media listening to locate existing information about current sleep-related technology, and the mechanism of dreaming. Determined desired features. -Design Created a mood board for visual inspiration. Develop a brand guide. Wireframed. Created mid-fidelity screens. -Build Transformed wireframes into prototype via Figma Make.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was attempting to work with Figma Make to achieve desired outcomes. It seemed that regardless of how specific our prompts were, the results were never quite what we were expecting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing this hackathon on the busiest weekend of the quarter!

What we learned

The importance of specificity when working with AI tools.

What's next for Dreamscape

We plan to continue refining the prototype.
