Inspiration
Horses symbolize freedom, perseverance, and the pursuit of inner truth. I wanted to transform this poetic, experimental song into an immersive, AI-generated music video, using stylized, dreamlike visuals. The lyrics were inspired by the Chinese poet Haizi's poem "Motherland."
The Work
"Dreams as Horses" uses AI-generated imagery and sound design to transform text into a landscape: the flame of the spirit, the endless night, and the steed that carries us forward. The theme expresses the importance of maintaining the flame of dreams even when the world attempts to extinguish them.
Build Process
I combined multiple AI tools for generation and composition: Suno was used to create the experimental song, and a large language model was used to enrich the prompts for optimal results. Midjourney was used to generate images, using a unified sref to maintain a consistent visual style. Dreamina was used to generate the video, utilizing the first and last frame features to string the images together into a dynamic, long shot. Capcut was then used for editing.
The Challenge
Transforming the poetic imagery into a consistent, coherent visual effect without losing its abstractness. Synchronizing lyrics, visuals, and sound creates an emotional rhythm that goes beyond the mere expression of words.
What We're Proud of
We successfully captured the symbolic depth of poetry with moving images. We demonstrated how AI can be a collaborator in artistic creation, not just a tool.
What We've Learned
Poetry can be transformed across media—from text to images to sound—while still retaining its soul. Guided by a strong artistic vision, AI can excel; rapid engineering design has become a guiding principle for music video creation.
Next Steps for "Dreams as Horses"
I envision expanding this into a series of AI-inspired poetic music videos, revisiting ancient poetry collections and allowing ancient cultures to be expressed in a new light through new technology.
