Inspiration

Agriculture feeds Africa, yet millions of smallholder farmers remain locked out of fair credit systems. We were inspired by the question: What if technology could finally make agricultural finance accessible, transparent, and data-driven? The rise of AI, satellite imaging, and blockchain created a unique moment to build something transformative.

What it does

AgriCredit Africa uses AI for instant, bias-free credit scoring and leverages blockchain to power transparent microloans, secure payments, and automated carbon credit rewards. Farmers get fair financing, real-time yield insights, and climate-smart incentives.

How we built it

  • Designed an AI pipeline using mobile money data, satellite imagery, and historical yields.
  • Deployed models using FastAPI microservices.
  • Integrated Solana smart contracts for microloans, repayments, and carbon tokens.
  • Built a lightweight farmer dashboard with simple UX and offline-first features.
  • Created a marketplace layer for buyers, lenders, and cooperatives.
