Inspiration

Planning a wedding should feel joyful, not overwhelming, yet most couples face chaos: spreadsheets, scattered ideas, and budget stress. We were inspired to build DreamDay to bring peace, personalization, and beauty back into the process using the power of AI. With millions of weddings planned each year and few affordable digital tools available, we knew there was an opportunity to create something truly transformative.

What it does

DreamDay is a smart, AI-powered wedding planning web app that acts like a personal planner, stylist, assistant, and budget manager, all in one.

Couples can:

• Onboard with preferences, date, location, and budget
• Generate personalized themes, moodboards, and color palettes
• Discover venues and vendors based on their criteria
• Track their budget visually with smart suggestions
• Manage guests, RSVPs, and seating
• Auto-generate a beautiful wedding website
• Use a built-in AI assistant to ask for help anytime

How we built it

We built DreamDay primarily with Bolt.new, leveraging several modern tools:

• Frontend: Bolt.new (React-based)
• Hosting: Netlify with custom domain via Entri & IONOS
• Database & Auth: Supabase
• AI Text: Google Gemini for intelligent responses, planning logic, and content generation
• Forms & RSVP Site: Netlify Forms
• Design: Earth-toned, elegant UI using a blush/sand/olive/rose palette

Challenges we ran into

• Creating a smooth flow from onboarding to visual theme generation
• Managing state and data sync across the budget, guest list, and assistant features within Bolt’s ecosystem

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Built a full-featured wedding planning experience in under 2 weeks using Bolt.new
• Fully integrated real-time video AI and voice AI into a planning workflow
• Designed a visually cohesive and emotionally resonant user experience
• Met the criteria for 3 hackathon challenges: Deploy, Custom Domain, and Startup.
• Helped simplify one of life’s most stressful moments for real couples

What we learned

• Bolt.new is incredibly powerful for building fast, flexible UIs when combined with API-first thinking
• AI can dramatically improve user experience when used meaningfully
• User emotion and tone matter deeply in apps tied to personal life moments
• It's possible to build something beautiful, scalable, and useful even in a short time — with the right tools and focus

What's next for DreamDay

• Add smart calendar syncing and milestone alerts
• Introduce a vendor marketplace with built-in reviews and instant bookings
• Offer a “hire a human planner” button inside the app for hybrid coordination
• Launch a freemium model with premium design upgrades and post-wedding features (e.g., AI photo album builder)
• Expand language support and localization for global rollout
