Inspiration

We were inspired by the imagination theme, we wanted to build something to help people bring their dreams to life!

What it does

Our project is a dashboard for building coding projects. As you talk through your idea, the algorithm takes notes, shows you similar projects, and gives suggestions on new directions. In the future, we hope to integrate more features like a milestone map, to-do lists, and flow charts to help people better visualize their ideas.

How we built it

We used ElevenLabs for speech-to-text, Gemini for text analysis (OpenRouter fallback for high congestion), Tavily to find similar projects, and Neon PostgreSQL for the database to store past ideas.

Challenges we ran into

Finding an API key for the text analysis part was hard - we tried OpenAI, which first gave an error because of old environment variables, then it didn't have any credits left, and then Gemini was overloaded. We ended up using OpenRouter, but since it didn't have a lot of free requests, we put Gemini first to make sure we wouldn't run out of credits.

What's next for DreamBuilder

We want to expand the project to include other information about a project. This includes high level milestones, a file system structure, reminders, to-do lists, and flow charts.

We also want to create a desktop app version that can actively read and write files on the user's computer. It could connect directly to Claude Code, Codex, or another code agent to make changes to the codebase and then update the dashboard to match.
