Inspiration

Everyone has dreams, but most people don't know where to start. Whether it's becoming a software engineer, launching a startup, or learning a new skill, the internet is filled with scattered advice, making it difficult to create a clear plan. We wanted to build an AI-powered platform that transforms any dream into a personalized roadmap, helping users move from ambition to action.

What it does

DreamBuilder AI is an intelligent goal-planning assistant that creates personalized roadmaps based on a user's dream, available time, current skills, and target deadline. It breaks large goals into achievable milestones, generates daily and weekly tasks, recommends learning resources, tracks progress, and adapts the plan whenever the user's schedule or progress changes.

How we built it

We built DreamBuilder AI using Python and Streamlit for the application interface. Google Gemini powers the AI that generates personalized roadmaps and recommendations. SQLite stores user goals and progress, while Plotly is used to visualize milestones and progress. Git and GitHub were used for version control throughout development.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was generating roadmaps that felt practical instead of generic. We had to carefully design prompts so the AI could understand different types of goals, break them into logical milestones, and provide realistic recommendations. Another challenge was making the plans adaptive as users progressed or missed tasks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building an AI that doesn't just answer questions—it creates structured, personalized action plans. We also designed a clean interface that makes goal planning simple and motivating while keeping the experience easy for anyone to use.

What we learned

This project taught us how to combine AI with thoughtful product design. We learned the importance of prompt engineering, structuring AI outputs into actionable plans, and creating an interface that encourages users to stay consistent with their goals.

What's next for DreamBuilder AI

Our next step is to add calendar integration, habit tracking, collaborative goal planning, resume and portfolio generation, and AI-powered progress predictions. We also plan to integrate learning platforms so users can begin working on their roadmap directly from the app.
