Indy Sports Net Sports Entertainment Team #1
Overview
What is entertainment? Entertainment is the act of enjoying something that brings you happiness or something that puts you at peace and relaxes you. Sports are one of the world's biggest sources of entertainment. COVID has taken away some of the most pleasurable forms of entertainments there is, and we would like to give that back to the people. We want to give people the opportunity of obtaining that entertainment that they once had without impacting their health. You might not be able to smell the sweat or yell directly at the team/ players, but we want to offer you something much similar and that is not a health risk. We created a way for people to be able to still view and share their love for sports and stay health in the comforts of their own home. Live streaming games at Indy Sports Net. Instead of yelling at your team/ players you can get the chance to talk to them directly via Zoom. We have created a website solely for Indiana sports. Sports are the backbone of Indiana and it is time we stand up straight again.

Boaz worked on researching and contributed significantly to all the critical work for the go squad.
How did you decide on this customer segment, problem, and solution?
We decided that we wanted to give our customers something similar but different from what they already have. The problem is not being able to be in an area with a huge crowd of people as well as not increasing the spread of COVID. And let’s face it no one wants to wear a mask the whole time they are watching a sport. We wanted to create a solution for these problems. We brained stormed on what we would like to see and be able to do when viewing sport live via online. Instead of treating COVID as something temporary our solution was to create something that can be of use during any pandemic like COVID and make sure that it can still be of use long after. We no longer wanted to work against COVID we decided to work around it. We learned that starting small is better. So, we use Indiana sports as our stepping ground. Creating a website for Indiana sports and teams. We started with three well know sports and teams with the hopes progressing and adding more sports as well as teams. Basketball, football and Racing are three main sports that brings a lot of attraction to Indiana outside and within the state. The teams and or events that we choose are the Pacers, Colts and Indy 500 and the respective venues that go along with those sports/ teams. People love sports and we want to be able to give that back to them bit by bit and make sure that they obtain that same enjoyment they once had while watching sports
How did your team build and iterate on the solution?
We first evaluated everyone’s knowledge of languages and then assigned roles. Then, we created a landing page as well as implementing our video player. We asked people about the design and the functionality and made changes accordingly. At the start of every week, we set goals and brainstormed ideas of what we wanted to do. Every day we had a check-in to see where everyone was. For the features that we couldn’t execute, we thought of a proof of concept that helped explain our ideas. After reflecting on the website, we found out that there’s a lot of cool features that we used and more that we would’ve liked to use.
Key Metrics
We completed several interviews with sports fans and people who obtain jobs related to sports in the Indiana area. We have not collected any money thus far but the plan is to do so once we obtain sponsors and create a steady revenue stream from the website.
Technical Architecture
We did not use any diagrams to aid with building this application. https://github.com/ShivaPentakotaCS/S.O.S_Challenge_SportsTeam01
Key Tools, Libraries, and Frameworks
We choose to use the ASP .Net Core framework along with CSS, HTML, and Javascript because members of our group were already comfortable with those technologies and because they had many APIS such as signalr that would help with building our site. Additionally, this framework made it very easy to deploy our with with Azure.
If you had another 5 weeks to work on this, what would you do next?
With another 5 weeks to work on our site our team would take the next steps into making sure our website is fully functioning in every aspect. We would start by integrating a database to manage all the users and archive videos. As well as creating a way for users to pay for their subscriptions, going on to adding more sports and teams to our website. Following, we want to obtain more sponsors and create some positive buss around our website, like obtaining and giving out merchant to customers and visitors of our site. We would complete some more testing and see how out website stands in the market, making sure it is user friendly. We would also like to set up a COVID relief fund for people to donate to a list of different charities. One of the biggest steps we would take is leaning towards making our website into an app as well. With more time we have a clear-cut plan of what needs to be done to improve our site.
