Inspiration
The inspiration was to spark kids’ creativity by letting them turn their wildest ideas or drawings into interactive stories! Inspired by how kids love storytelling, we used Kiro’s AI to make it fun and easy, like magic.
What it does
Dream Story Maker is an online web app where kids type a story idea (like “dragon adventure”) or upload a drawing, and Kiro’s AI creates an interactive story with choices (e.g., “Fly or fight?”). It’s fun, easy, and works in any browser!
How we built it
I used Kiro’s AI to plan Dream Story Maker with a spec, turning our idea into a clear blueprint. Kiro’s multimodal chat wrote code for a web app, using kids’ text or pictures to generate stories. Agent hooks auto-tested buttons and updated our README, making coding fast and polished.
Challenges we ran into
Getting Kiro to understand complex drawings was tricky—some images needed clearer prompts. We also struggled with styling buttons to look kid-friendly. Kiro’s chat helped us tweak prompts and CSS, saving the day!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am thrilled to build a fun app that turns kids’ drawings into stories! Using Kiro’s AI to generate code from pictures and automate testing with hooks felt like magic. Our app works smoothly online, ready for kids everywhere.
What we learned
I learnt how Kiro’s AI can turn ideas into code super fast! Its spec-driven planning kept me organized, multimodal chat made image-based stories possible, and hooks saved time. I also learnt to always cross-check the codes generated, in order to make sure the right codes are inputted.
What's next for Dream Story Marker
I’ll add more features, like saving stories to share with friends or adding sound effects for choices. I’ll also use Kiro’s MCP to connect to a fairy tale database for even cooler story ideas!
