In 2024 I caught a Grimes set that featured incredible AI visuals. After that, it was all over for me. Since then I’ve been chasing that kind of magical, surreal motion in newer video models.
AI is a revolutionary, alien technology, so my focus is on creating visuals that would be difficult for people to create or even conceptualize. With the recent developments around Wan, I wanted to push into stranger, more dreamlike territory and see how far that could go in a music-driven context.
For this piece, I combined Wan-generated sequences with my skills in TouchDesigner to build a live, audio-reactive performance driven by a track I wrote in Ableton. The hardest part was designing the workflow and then aggressively curating what made it into the final piece. The result is a real-time performance, captured live and finished in After Effects. Surrealism in motion.
