Inspiration
We wanted to build something that was fun, but also could be applied to everyday life. One of our inspirations was the apparent art theme for the event.
What it does
This website allows users to keep journal entries about their dreams. Each entry will be used to generate art so that each dream can be visualized.
How we built it
To build this app, three of us worked on the front-end while one of us worked on the back-end. The front-end was developed on VS Code using React, and the back-end was developed using Django and Google Cloud.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into several bugs for a login system that took a long time to solve, even with mentors. We only realized afterwards that we should have been spending our time finishing up the main features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our back-end dev built the entire back-end as well as an API on his own. Our front-end devs all learned React and Tailwind for the first time. We are also proud to have attended this event and to have brought this project to life.
What we learned
We learned how to use Git to collaborate, React, Tailwind, headless ui, CockroachDB, and team bonding.
What's next for Dream Journal
Hopefully, all of the features will be implemented and the UI will be polished.
