Dream City Finder

Inspiration

It is every student's dream to live in a city of choice, but are usually forced to forget those dreams as they have to focus on getting a job and this job dictates where you stay until you retire. Now that there is a shift to remote working, we all want to provide motivation to everyone to seize the moment and try to move to a city of their choice!

What it does

The web application allows one to control ranges for many parameters such as rent and temperatures. The results are populated in real time based on the ranges set.

How we built it

We used python to set up our tables using numpy and pandas from the datasets we found. We used streamlit.io to make our GUI.

Challenges we ran into

Had a hard time integrating our datasets to match up all data for a given city. Struggled to step up the flow between the front end and back end, as we were not familiar with streamlit.io

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We brainstormed and came up with some really cool parameters to include to the application. Another accomplishment we made is learning to successfully use around 8 datasets where each had a thousands of rows and multiple columns.

What I learned

Learned a lot about pandas and finding relevant datasets

What's next for Dream City Finder

We didn't get to implement many parameters we talked about such as COVID predictions. We will work together in the future to implement more cool features.
