Inspiration
Both of us have younger siblings who are very interested in art. We noticed that there are many kids who are interested in art and have a hard time learning in school. With some research, we realized how low reading proficiency is. Because most traditional teaching methods require good reading skills, we decided it is important we create a website which allows children to learn in other ways.
What it does
DrawScape has 6 modules which are different science concepts children can explore. After picking a module, there are a set of instructions on what they have to draw. After they draw, the AI analyzes the drawing and gives the student a detailed explanation of the concept. It uses audio, animations, and arrows to give the reader a deeper understanding. Additionally, it has a "Quiz Me" feature which tests the student, building their knowledge. Moreover, there is an AI chatbot which allows the user to ask questions related to the concept.
How we built it
We built it using a mix of our own knowledge and the assistance of Codex.
Challenges we ran into
The "Analyze" feature on website often resulted in an error because it was unable to detect what the user was drawing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to code so much in such a limited time with no prior hackathon experience.
What we learned
We learned it is important to manage our time because it goes by faster than we expect. We figured out how to work together efficiently.
What's next for DrawScape
We are hoping to expand into more subjects than just science and even have different languages so it is accessible all over the world.
