GyMyo

Inspiration:

We wanted to develop a product that making an impact on the healthcare system and that would attack the very basic problems faced by people.

Working:

This is a Gym activity tracker using a single Myo or 2 Myos combined. It has all the features combined together as it includes features as accelerotometer and emg data.

GyMyo is programmed to find our if you are performing dumbbells, crunches or pushups and would analyse the data accordingly to find out the number of the same. It also has the previous feature of MyoWalk included that would find out if a person has taken a fall and would inform accordingly.

V 1.1 Myo is generally an armband used for Gesture based detection. We tweaked it to be used as a gym band that finds out the different activities done in gym and the in the later version planning to include a calorie tracker too based on the calories burnt per exercise.

V 1.2 We have included a calorie calculator too that would give a notification as to how many calories have been burnt.

Challenges we faced:

We started out working with 1 Myo and Edison board trying to make it IoT device but then put that away and concentrated in using ONLY Myo (2 at a time) as Edison complicated our processes.

Proud Achievements:

Tweaking the device to work as a leg band whereas it itself is an armband. We could actually detect the number of bumbbells, crunches done as well as send an alert message if a person falls. This can be a lot useful for Old Aged People as well as Gym and Health enthusiasts.

Future Scopes:

We are planning to make an app out of this which can be used for tracking gym data with more accuracy (no app provides data of the activities done in Gym automatically except treadmill.)
