Inspiration

As businesses grow and contracts regarding these businesses become more complicated, documentation was the go-to solution for us, since the ancient beginning of transactions. Now, we have all these forms that come in all shapes and sizes. While we do acknowledge that these beloved forms act as a legal safety net for both party A and party B, we cannot deny the fact that just filling the forms itself takes a considerable amount of our productivity.

How many times did we have to open two windows at once, drag a block of text, right-click, select "copy" and then move your cursor to an empty block and right-click again, hit "paste"? (or alternatively, alt+tab, ctrl+c, and then alt+tab, ctrl+v?)

Thinking about how tedious manual inputting can be, and how prone this is to human errors, (I wonder how many of us have never miscopied something in our lives) there have been various attempts to mitigate this problem.

Some companies purchased expensive software in the market that could do the job for them. The software delivered, but only to limited platforms - meaning that the software is not widely applicable.

For end-users who were unwilling to make such an investment, the pool of choices is very small. For now, they can only fill in dummy data and presets that still requires manual input, which somewhat defeats the purpose of being efficient.

Our goal was to provide an efficient form-filler in both cost and workflow, by enabling Drag and Doc to learn and adapt to different web forms, being versatile in all situations.

What it does

Keeping things simple and precise through machine hands, not ours.

We used to do this:

  1. Stop from what you were working on to fill out a form that needs to be submitted urgently.
  2. Find the document you need the information from and locate the web form, open them both.
  3. (from window 1) drag the texts
  4. copy the texts
  5. paste the texts (to window 2)
  6. REPEAT for each text box.
  7. Try to pick up from where you left off, but only to find yourself kicked out of the zone.

Drag and Doc will change this workflow into:

  1. Stop from what you were working on to fill out a form that needs to be submitted urgently.
  2. Find the document you need the information from and locate the web form.
  3. drag the doc itself into Drag and Doc
  4. submit the form and get back to work, still in the zone.
