I just bought a home and wanted a device to find out where I need to insulate more during the winter to help save money.
What it does
Detects differences in temperature in a room.
How I built it
Using an Arduino board and sensors that came with a starter kit.
Challenges I ran into
Debugging different issues that came up regarding getting the correct temperature from the sensor; getting the lcd display to print in a format that we wanted, and the IR remote features to adjust the optimal temperature setting was tricky especially because we found out that the remote we were using had two output signals for the same button press and it randomly chose between them.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Being able to make a device that will help out in life
What I learned
How to use Arduino to develop different type of customizable devices
What's next for Draft Detector
Using it around my house to find areas where I might be able to insulate more and save on energy loss.
