Inspiration
It's difficult to find a good formal date, but there are always lots of people who want to go to formals. This program is intended to match those people up.
What it does
Draft a Date is designed to find people that would be available to go to a formal or date party with you. A major problem for those who participate in the greek system, especially for freshman, is that they don't know people who would be available to attend greek functions with them or they're too afraid to ask directly. DaD collects information from users like their availability and type of relationship they're seeking in order to best match users.
How I built it
We wrote the html to provide a structure for the website, css to style it, and javascript to add limited functionality. We have several html pages that link to each other.
Challenges I ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into were not knowing a lot of how to draft the backend of the website and running out of time with only two coders.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
While we struggled to get the backend done, we actually got the frontend of the website stylistically complete. We have multiple example profiles, and the concept of the website is clearly shown through what we got finished.
What I learned
We learned how to create images in photoshop and illustrator that we embedded into our site. We also created style sheets in css and functions in javascript, which we called in the html.
What's next for Draft a Date
The next step for DaD is creating data persistence and completing the backend of the website to get it fully functioning. This would include creating an algorithm to match users, allowing multiple images per profile, and getting real people to come on and test out the website.
