HeMeB App

Introduction

Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is defined as bleeding that lasts for more than seven days or as the loss of more than 80mL of blood per mentrual cycle

Challenge

Count Dracula is the protagonist of Irish writer Bram Stoker's 1897 Gothic horror novel. One of his best-known characteristics is that he feeds on the blood of his victims, leaving them with low energy or even turning them into a vampire. Women of childbearing age have our own "Dracula", menstruation, which causes genital bleeding every month as a result of the desquamation of the endometrium if pregnancy has not been achieved in that ovulatory cycle. The criteria for normal menstrual bleeding are that it must be less than 80 ml per menstrual cycle. Any increase in this amount is considered heavy menstrual bleeding. There are certain diseases that can cause the amount of menstruation to be greater than expected and cause iron deficits and/or anemia, at the same time as a loss of quality of life. But how can we quantify the blood loss that menstruation increasingly generates? How can we tell if it is normal or increased?

What it does

We have provided women with a mobile tool with two key components:

PBAC Test: With the PBAC-Score the women can capture the number of pads or tampons and also state the intensity through the assessment of the drenching.

** SAMANTA Questionnaire** With these simple questions we can provide a quick feedback.

How we built it

We designed the minimum viable product and after agreeing on different tasks we started a react project, hosted in github, mainly based on react typescript.

Challenges we ran into

We faced issues in how to allow the user to comfortably interact with the app.

What we learned

We learned a lot about sexual health.
