Inspiration

This project was actually inspired from Thorsten after his presentation of Eleven Labs on the hackathon youtube sponsor videos. Initially I was going for another app but the conversational voice agent was something I could not pass by. I wanted to build something that I could have a conversation with directly on the website. To be honest I thought of many ideas but for some reason I wanted to play with the AI agent so I came up with a “Sarcastic AI therapist”.

What it does

You can have 3 types of therapy, An instant Roast, quick drama session and a Sarcasm Wisdom.

How we built it

I started using the embedded widget, and then after reviewing the documentation I changed to using the React implementation method, this allowed me to create a personalized screen and take control of calls with programmed actions.

Challenges we ran into

Several phases of failures at the beginning, it started as I could not get my voice to get recognized, I only heard a first message from the AI agent, app was creating audio blobs and not going anywhere, until I finally got it to speak to me and also answer me, but then call were dropping in the middle of the conversation. After a few adjustments and trials, I finally got it to work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It is awesome how we, and I say we (Everyone building in Bolt) can accomplish and finish apps that in just a few years it was impossible to get something ready like this in just a few hours or days.

What we learned

A good tip that I will give is when Bolt is not fixing the issue, give it the link of the documentation or references on where to look, after many errors and fixes, once I gave it where to look up the API documentation, it fixed the error on the first try.

What's next for Dr. Thorsten - Your Unqualified Digital Therapist

This was an experimental project for me but it opens the door for another app I will be creating. Using this as a base, it will become a lot easier to know what direction to take in future projects.
