Inspiration

Drones are a very interesting piece of tech, but they can also be used for a better purpose. They can be specialized as ambulance drones which may save lives. The name comes from 'Dr. Drone'.

What it does

The drone’s purpose is to deliver important medicines, first-aid kits or even medical reports to all places (including remote places) as fast and safe as possible.

How we built it

The model of the drone was built in Blender. I first listed the features the drone should ideally have - such as blades, lights and a camera.

Challenges we ran into

There were a few constraints such as the time and no. of people working on the project (I am a solo participant). Due to this, I could not create a proper environment or scene to display the practical use of the model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am extremely glad that I was able to build a good prototype by myself and add subtle animations as well. While most of my Blender projects involved learning and copying the steps in YouTube tutorials, in this project, I modelled all the objects entirely by myself (with reference to some images online).

What we learned

Time management was a key takeaway for me in this Hackathon. I researched and spent minimum time on brainstorming possible ideas and innovations related to the theme of Healthcare. The remaining time was then sufficient for me to complete my model. I even got feedback from the Blender helpers who regularly came to check my progress, and their feedback helped me improve my project. Lastly, a lesson I learned was that technology can and should be used for the greater good for humanity.

What's next for Dr.one

There are additional features which could be added in the model such as sirens, batteries and cooling systems for medicines. Due to the time constraint, these features were not possible to model, but they are indeed the main potential areas of further improvement.
