Dr. Goose

Inspiration

As university students, we felt there was no single Chrome extension that functioned that we wanted it to. There are many annoyances with other extensions that simply made them unusable. As a result, we felt we could tackle this challenge and create not only a functional all-in-one Chrome extension but also one that is user-friendly. Before we knew it, there we were on our journey to creating what we call: Dr. Goose.

What it does

Dr. Goose is an all-in-one utility Chrome extension. It has a variety of functions and features that make it incredibly useful. It features a to-do list, countless reminders, workout timers, music control, inspirational quotes and so much more.

How I built it

We used HTML and CSS for the front-end and used Javascript along with the Chrome API to construct this masterpiece.

Challenges I ran into

We had a lot of difficulties using and applying the Chrome API because we weren't really knowledgeable in that field. Nonetheless, we managed to overcome these obstacles and finalize Dr. Goose!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Seeing this was our first hackathon, the thought of creating a project, and such a short time frame was incredibly daunting. However, in the end, we worked as a unified team and managed to create a Chrome extension that met our criteria considering we have almost 0 experience in creating Chrome extensions going in.

What I learned

We learned how to integrate HTML/CSS, Javascript and, Chrome API into one and create a working and visually pleasing Chrome extension.

What's next for Dr. Goose

Due to the short time frame we have, we do plan on upgrading Dr. Goose to support more features and fix up the current flaws of the extension in the near future.
