Inspiration
Access to quality healthcare advice is uneven across the world. Many people struggle to get a second opinion on critical medical issues due to distance, cost, or limited availability of specialists. We were inspired by the potential of AI in healthcare to close this gap. Our goal was to build a tool that empowers users especially in underserved areas to make more informed health decisions by getting a fast, intelligent second opinion based on their medical reports and test results.
What it does
Our app provides instant, AI-powered medical second opinions. Users can upload medical images (like X-rays), lab reports, or describe their symptoms in a simple chat interface. The app connects to a medical language model via API, which analyses the input and returns an evidence-based explanation, possible diagnoses, or further questions to consider. It's designed to support, not replace, medical professionals by helping users understand their health situation more clearly and confidently.
How we built it
Still building a responsive mobile-first web app using React and Tailwind CSS for a clean and intuitive user experience. The frontend allows users to upload files and chat with an AI assistant. On the backend, we integrated with a Tavus model, which handles both image and text inputs. Data is sent securely via form-based API calls, and responses are rendered back in a modern, chat-style UI. We focused on speed, usability, and privacy to make sure the app works well in real-world conditions—even during a weekend sprint.
Challenges we ran into
Coming from a non-programmer background, there is a massive list of challenges.
