❤️ Inspiration

Built for love. Designed to be completely useless.

Relationships are exhausting. Overthinking texts, second-guessing yourself, replaying conversations at 2AM — we’ve all been there.

But let’s be honest… sometimes you don’t want real advice.
You just want someone to say: “Yeah, you’re right.”

So we built Dr. Amore, the world’s most supportive — and completely unhelpful — dating coach.

🤖 What it does

Dr. Amore is an AI-powered love expert who listens to your relationship problems and gives you the one thing you actually came for: validation.

No nuance. No accountability. No growth.

Just:

“You deserve better.”
“They fumbled.”
“You’re absolutely not the problem.”

It’s a one-stop shop for emotional reassurance — whether you need it… or not.

This app will not improve your relationship.

🛠 How we built it

We built Dr. Amore using:

React, HTML, CSS for the frontend
JavaScript for application logic
Claude Sonnet (via LAVA API) for generating responses
ElevenLabs for a custom voice that brings Dr. Amore to life

With ElevenLabs, we created a tailored voice that matches Dr. Amore’s personality — confident, slightly unhinged, and way too reassuring.

⚠️ Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was finding the perfect balance between:

completely useless
and actually fun to use

If it was too helpful, the joke didn’t land.
If it was too chaotic, it stopped being enjoyable.

We solved this by fully committing to the satire — pairing confidently bad advice with an intentionally trashy, over-the-top UI that matches Dr. Amore’s personality.

Turning a simple idea into a strong, memorable character
Successfully integrating a custom AI voice to enhance the experience

📚 What we learned

We learned that text-to-speech with LLMs is a non-trivial problem — especially when trying to match a specific personality.

Through this project, we:

Integrated LLM-generated responses with real-time voice output
Created a custom voice using ElevenLabs
Learned how much voice changes the entire feel of an AI interaction

🔮 What's next

Dr. Amore is just the beginning.

Next steps include:

Making conversations more streamlined and natural
Adding different personalities/characters users can talk to
Expanding the experience beyond one “doctor” into a full love advice ecosystem

Because if one bad advisor is good… more might be worse (in the best way).
