Inspiration
The rise of recap culture—Spotify Wrapped, Goodreads challenges, and Instagram’s “Top 9”—proves that people love visually engaging with their data, reflecting on their experiences, and sharing their personal highlights with friends. Current rating and tracking platforms only cater to single categories. But what if a foodie is also an avid reader, film lover, or adventure-seeker? Managing separate apps for each interest is tedious and fragmented. Yet, why limit yourself to just one niche when your interests are so much more diverse?
What it does
Imagine a platform where you can rate anything and everything in life. Whether it’s ranking the best dishes you’ve cooked, reviewing your travel experiences, tracking your latest reads, or even rating your friend’s love life drama as it unfolds—our platform brings it all together. With personalized and limitless lists, our platform lets you capture and explore all your life experiences, preferences, and opinions—fostering connection through shared discoveries.
How we built it and Challenges
We built Down the Rabbit Hole using React Next.JS and Tailwind as our CSS framework. With clear and focused Figma designs, creating the user interface was seamless. We used Neon for our database. We ran into some challenges with our database algorithms. To rank the user's experience, we had to create a specific binary search algorithm that took care of comparisons.
Future for Down the Rabbit Hole
We are proud to say that Down the Rabbit Hole is a success. We are proud of what we achieved in such a tight time frame, especially having pivoted from our original idea. Down the Rabbit Hole can be scaled in the future. We see it becoming a social media platform, where friends can connect and share their ranked daily experiences with each other. We also want Down the Rabbit Hole to become a mobile app.
